The Chocolate Of Michael Myers

Happy Halloween! Halloween isn't really celebrated in Switzerland, but as I live and work in a catholic region, I've got the day off tomorrow, so I'll probably watch some horror movies tonight :-)

Today's mani doesn't look specificaly Halloween-y, but I did use a Halloween polish for it.

As base color I used Kiko Pearly Chocolate Noir, a dark chocolate brown polish with an orange shimmer. Application was easy, I used two medium coats for opacity.

On top of Pearly Chocolate Noir, I dabbed one coat of Dollish Polish The Curse Of Michael Myers (Halloween Frights 2013 Collection), a clear base with yellow, orange, red, holographic and iridiscent glitters, that look blue and green in my pictures. Most of the glitters are hexes, but there are also some squares and circles. The glitters that look like tiny snowflakes are the holographic ones, I sadly couldn't capture the holo effect in my lightbox.

The Curse Of Michael Myers is, of course, named after the movie "Halloween" and it's sequels. It was easy to applicate, the glitters spread nicely. I finished this mani with one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top topcoat.

Dollish Polish are available at their store, at Llarowe and at Overall Beauty.

Birefringence

Today's mani is the one I wore to visit the fantasy convention I mentioned the week before last.

I Love Nail Polish's Birefringence is a multichrome shimmer polish shifting from blue over purple, pink and orange to a green-ish gold, which is only visible at extreme angles (or under water). The formula was good, I used three thin coats for opacity, no undies.

For the stamping I used Moyou Pro Collection plate 06 and black Essence stamping polish. I finished with one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top topcoat.

I didn't have the time to change my mani during the convention, so Birefringence had to prove it's longevity. I had some obvious chipping on my left thumb after only one day, but other than that, the polish looked pretty good until day four, some tipwear but nothing too bad. On day five (luckily it was the day we went back), I started "losing" the polish in huge chips, eight of my nails were half bare when I returned home.

ILoveNailpolish are available on Etsy and at their own shop.

Mr. Brown's Pawn Shop

More fall colors for today's mani.

My base color is Essence Who Is Mr. Brown (Marble Mania Trend Edition), a dark chocolate brown creme. Application was easy, but it's a little sheer though, I used three coats for opacity. It dries very shiny, the picture below shows Who Is Mr. Brown without topcoat.

On top of Who Is Mr. Brown I dabbed one coat of CrowsToes Umm, No... He Went To The Pawn Shop (ValenCrows Collection), a clear base packed with orange, yellow, purple and aqua hexes plus aqua and blue squares.

CrowsToes polishes tend to have a thick base, but I actually prefer thicker bases with this kind of glitter bombs, it makes them very easy to apply. For a smooth finish I added one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top topcoat.

Crows Toes polishes are available at LlaroweShoppe Eclecticco and Overall Beauty.

A Box, Indied - Devoured

For today's mani I used another polish of the october A Box, Indied: Ethereal Lacquer Devoured.

Devoured is a gorgeous plum toned holo polish. The hole effect is more scattered than linear, but still pretty obvious. I used three coats for opacity.

Then I added a stamping using Essence Petal To The Metal (Metal Glam Trend Edition), a lilac foil, and Bundle Monster plate BM-406. I topped the mani with one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top topcoat.

A Box, Indied - No Tricks, Just Treats

Today I have the third polish of the october "A Box, Indied" to show you: Lacquerlicious No Tricks, Just Treats!

As base color I used Catrice Vanilla Love, a light pastel vanilla yellow with a shimmer so subtle I couldn't quite capture it. Sadly, the formula was pretty poor. What you see below is four coats, and it was still patchy and not 100% opaque, and it took a long time to dry (that's why I dented my index finger, as you can see).

On top of Vanilla Love I dabbed one coat of Lacquerlicious No Tricks, Just Treats. I'm pretty sure Michelle, the creator of Lacquerlicious, just threw ever glitter she had around in a clear base to create this polish :-) It contains hexes, bars, squares, dots, stars, half moons and shard glitters in various sizes from tiny to medium, in every color imaginable, shiny, matte and holo.

The polish is so packed with glitters, it's really thick, but application is still easy and it spreads nicely over the nail. In spite of the huge amount of glitters, it doesn't dry too gritty, so I only added one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top topcoat for a smooth and glossy finish.

Lacquerlicious polishes are sold on Etsy (US and Canada only) and BeautySoFly. No Tricks, Just Treats is exclusive to the october "A Box, Indied". The box with five polishes is available at Llarowe as a one month only box or as subscription (50$ per box).
