A Maiden Skittlette In Blue

Another saturday, another skittlette mani, another nod to Skittlette-Queen Marta from Chit Chat Nails :-)

My index finger shows three coats of OPI I Don't Give A Rotterdam (Holland Collection), a light grey-ish blue with lots of silver shimmer.

On my middle and ring finger I'm wearing three coats of Elevation Polish Jungfrau, a medium, slightly navy-leaning blue with small flakes shifting from aqua to green. Jungfrau is, as far as I've seen, the only Elevation Polish named after a Swiss Mountain, located in the Berner Oberland next to Eiger and Mönch and part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I've never been on top of Jungfrau but I once had the chance to take a helicopter ride around Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, a absolutely wonderufl sight. I didn't know it before, so I didn't bring a camera and can't show you pictures, though.

A little absolutely non polish related trivia for my non german speaking readers: Jungfrau means maiden/virgin, and because she should stay a virgin, the mountain Mönch (= monk) is placed between her and the (male) mountain Eiger ;-)

My pinkie and thumb show three coats of Nubar Boyfriend Jeans, a muted denim blue with grey untertones, topped with a stamping using Color Club Lumin-Icecent, a pale blue foil polish, and Messy Mansion plate A31.

Elevation Polish are available at their own store and at Llarowe.

Spank You Very Much, Anna Maria

Today's mani shows one of my favourite colors: teal. As you probably know, I'm a huge lover of the blue family, all kinds of blue, teal and purple just amaze me. And as today's my birthday, I wanted to show you a color I truely love :-)

For this mani I started with three coats of Contrary Polish Anna Maria (The Islands Collection), a deep teal jelly with a greenish-golden shimmer. The shimmer wasn't too easy to capture on the pictures, but pretty obvious irl. The color is a little more blue leaning than my pictures show (you can see on my skin tone that the pictures turned out a little too yellow. Usually, my camera shows the polishes more blue, but this time it's all different. Huh.), the bottle shot is more color accurate. Application was easy, I had no issues with Anna Maria.

On my ring finger and thumb, as accent nails, I added one coat of Dollish Polish Spank You Very Much. Spank You Very Much is "inspired by one of Ace Ventura many brightly colored Hawaiian shirts. This glitter consists of ultra fine glitter in Teal and Green, accented with larger Teal hexagons and bright Purple glitters. This densely packed shade can be worn as a top coat, or on it's own."
(Source: Dollish Polish)

Application of Spank You Very Much was easy, no dabbing or fishing for glitters needed. As it dried pretty smoothly, I only added one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer for a glassy finish.

Contrary Polish are available at Llarowe and Shoppe Eclectico.

Dollish Polish are available at their store, at Llarowe and at Overall Beauty. Spank You Very Much is on sale right now at the Dollish Polish shop, so it's probably going to be retired. If you like it, you should get it now.

Stamping Nude

I had a couple of meetings at work, so I have another office appropriate mani to show you today.

My base color is Catrice I'm A Greydreamer (Siberian Call Limited Edition), a nude creme with slight grey untertones. I used three coats, but for complete opacity I would have needed a fourth. I added one coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri, which caused the massive bubbling (sorry for that).

Then I added a stamping with Essence School's Out Forever (Class Of 2013 Trend Edition), a taupe polish with a subtle pink shimmer, and Bundle Monster plate 213, and finished the mani with one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.

Ego Friendly Skittelette

I know, a already showed you a Emily de Molly polish yesterday, but as I mentioned then, I love this brand, so today's skittelette-mani (of course as always inspired by the extremely talented Marta from Chit Chat Nails) is based on another Emily de Molly: Ego Friendly

I used three coats of Ego Friendly on my ring and middle finger. Ego Friendly has a mint crelly base with small green hexes, teal and lilac hexes plus teal shard glitters. Application was very easy, no dabbing, fishing or placing of glitters needed, and the three coats I used were enough for full opacity.

On my pinkie and thumb I applies three coats of Butter London Stag Do, a very dark blackened teal with lots of emerald green shimmer.

My index finger shows four coats of Essence Always In My Mint (Me And My Icecream Trend Edition), a sheer mint polish with a shimmer so subtle it's almost invisible on the nails. On top of Always In My Mint I used Pueen Plate 10 and Kiko 625 Emerald (Mirror Nail Lacquer) for the stamping.

I finished this mani with one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food over Ego Friendly and one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer over all nails.

Emily de Molly polishes are available on Etsy (Australia only), at Llarowe, at Shoppe Eclectico, at Mei Mei's Signatures and at Norway Nails. I usually buy mine at Llarowe, but you have to follow them on Facebook to get the latest infos about the restocks and be fast, they sell out quickly.

When Planets Collide

Today I have another beauty by one of my favorite indie brands to show you: Emily de Molly When Planets Collide

When Planets Collide has a very sheer black base with blue and orange-y red hexes (the blue ones come in two sizes) and blue holo hexes (the green-looking hexes are actually the blue holos). As the jelly base is so sheer, I used two coats over a black creme (a England Lancelot). Application was easy, no dabbing or fishing for glitters needed, it applied almost like a creme polish. I used one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer for a glassy finish.

Norway Cosmos

This is the mani I wore at Oslo. I thought the Norwegians might like it, but I got exactly zero comments on it...

The main color of this mani is Picture Polish Cosmos, a vibrant royal blue with lots of scattered holo particles. Application was a dream, I used two medium coats. And as I wasn't changing my polish as often during my vacation, I can confirm a great wearing time: only after five days it had some little chips.

My ring finger shows the Norwegian flag (at least it's supposed to be the Norwegian flag, as I already mentioned before: me and freehand nailart = instant fail), using Essie Blanc (white), A England Perceval (red) and P2 So Cool! (blue).

As a finishing move, I added one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.

Chandelle Rests In The Forest

No blue or purple and only a little green today :-)

My base color for this mani is Catrice Rest In The Forest (Siberian Call Limited Edition), a clear base filled with beige and pink glitter flakes that give the polish a pinkish-nude foil look. Application was easy, but Rest In The Forest is very sheer, I used three coats and my nail line still was visible.

On top of Rest In The Forest I dabbed one coat of Darling Diva Polish Chandelle, "crystal glitters in a rosey taupey base wtih pink, green, gold holographic, and copper glitter. It is a very grown up glitter polish and might be that bridge to wearing glitter to a conservative office?"
(Source: Darling Diva Polish)

I actually wore this mani for a business meeting, and there were comments about my nails, so I can confirm the wearability in office :-)

For a smooth finish I added one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.

Darling Diva Polishes can be found on Etsy, at Mei Mei Signatures and at Llarowe
