Golden Oldie Thursday - Lime Or Bright Green

It's Golden Oldie Thursday, and this week's theme is lime or bright green.

Bright, yellow toned shades of green aren't really my cup of tea, so my selection is pretty limited. I chose LynBDesigns Lost Without My Blogger, a Sherlock inspired polish.

Lost Without My Blogger has a slightly green tinted base with lots of tiny grass green glitters, pastel yellow hexes, lime and emerald green dots. I applied two coats over a base of Barielle Myrza's Meadow. Lost Without My Blogger dries quite gritty, I added one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top for a smooth finish.

Lyn B Designs polishes are available on Etsy.

Golden Oldie Thursday - Day 2 - Stripes

Today's thursday, and this means turn two for the Golden Oldie Thursdays! Today's theme is "Stripes".

I started with three coats of China Glaze Harvest Moon (Capitol Colors Collection, I already used it in one of my very first blogposts back in november 2012), a copper-y orange foil, plus one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top to speed up the drying time.

Then I added three pieces of striping tape per nail and one thick coat of Barielle Falling Star (All Lacquered Up Collection), a royal blue polish with small copper glitters.

Below you can see how the other participiants realized the theme.

Blair's Snow Day

Today's wintery mani doesn't really match the sunny fall weather we have at the moment, but you can't always match your mani with the weather, can you? ;-)

As base color I used Barielle Snow Day, a steel blue shimmer polish.I used three coats for opacity. Snow Day looks a little streaky due to the metallic finish, but it wasn't as obvious in real life.

On top of Snow Day I added one dabbed coat of Essence Blair (old range nail art twins), a clear base with small silver holographic and two medium sizes of titanium colored hexes. I topped this mani with one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top topcoat.

Myrza's Tale's A Teaser

After yesterday's muddy green, another green mani, but this time in more vivid colors (my boyfriend chose them).

I started with two coats of Barielle Myrza's Meadow, a light, grassy green with tiny holographic glitters. The two coats I used weren't quite enough for opacity, if I was wearing it alone, I'd have used three.

Then I added a gradient using a make-up sponge and Barielle Teaser, a medium, slightly teal toned green creme. I'm wearing no topcoat on this picture, that's why the gradient still looks a little coarse (topcoat helps a lot to make a gradient look softer).

For a little "bling", I then added one coat of Orly Mermaid Tale, a clear base filled with green hexes in various sizes and shades (even some holographics), and one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer for a smooth finish.

Grey Potosi

Today I have a silver and gold combo to show you.

As base color for this mani I used three coats of Barielle Out-Grey-Geous, a silver grey metallic polish with golden shimmer particles. Out-Grey-Geous is very sheer, even after three coats my nail line was still pretty visible irl.

For a little more "bling" I added Cirque Colors Potosi, a clear base with small silver and gold hexes, silver squares and shards.

This polish was a little difficult to work with, it's not really packed with glitter, so I had a lot of the clear base on my nails until I was happy with the amount of glitter. I added one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer to smooth the surface (and speed up drying time), but some of the shards refused to lay flat and stuck up through the topcoat.

Cirque polishes are sold at their own store, at Harlow & Co., at Edgy Polish and at Mei Mei's Signatures, but Potosi is discontinued.

Date Night Number 56

I haven't worn green in quite some time, so it's time to change that.

As base color I used two coats of Barielle Date Night, a emerald green polish with a slightly frosty shimmer. Due to the metallic look, Date Night applies a little streaky, but it's not too bad if you take your time applying it. As you can see, it dries really glossy, the picture shows the polish and my reflection, but no topcoat :-)

On top of Date Night I added one coat of Nfu Oh 56, a green base filled with flakes shifting from emerald green to aqua blue, plus one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.

As I absolutely love matte flakies, I just had to add one coat of Essence Soft Touch topcoat and I really love the effect.
