Frisch Lackiert Challenge: Glänzend & Matt

Shiny and matte is this week's theme for the Frisch Lackiert Challenge.

For this mani I chose Kiko Laser Lacquer 435 Dark Heroine (Limited Edition), a duochrome shimmer shifting from teal to purple. Sadly, the color shift didn't really translate to the nails, it looks mostly blue when worn. After the base was completely dry (I added one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top to speed up drying time) I used some star nail vinyls, added a genreous coat of Picture Polish G'Day Matte and removed the vinyls.

Frisch Lackiert Challenge: Cut Out

Cut Out is this week's prompt for the Frisch Lackiert challenge. I kept it very simple, just one polish, nail vinyls, that's it.

The polish I used is China Glaze Watermelon Rind, an emerald green foil. As usual, it's a little greener than my blue-loving camera would show. I added one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top as finishing step.

26 Great Nail Art Ideas: Reciprocal Gradient

This week's challenge theme is reciprocal gradient.

I decided to stay very simple with this one. Just two polishes (MoYou London Winter Green and Born Pretty Store stamping polish No. 343) plus some chevron nail vinyls (and my beloved KBShimmer Clearly On Top topcoat, of course).

26 Great Nail Art Ideas: Halloween with negative space

Two 26 Great Nail Art Ideas manis in one week? Well yes, the one from monday was ten days late, but today I'm on time with my Halloween with negative space mani.

I don't really like negative space manis, since I don't like to show my naked nails (there's a reason why I've been wearing nail polish on a more or less daily basis for more than 20 years now...). But a challenge is supposed to be challenging, I guess... Here's what I used: Catrice Peacoktail (Feathered Fall Limited Edition), a dark duochrome with a almost black base and shimmer shifting from green to pink, and two different nail vinyls, a graveyard scene and bats. The lines are a little blurry because I had to use two coats of the polish for opacity, they get more crisp with only one coat. I used the same vinyls two years ago for a Halloween challenge mani, but with a little more color back then... As usual, one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top finished this mani.

26 Great Nail Art Ideas: Mixed Tape Mani

Mixed tape mani is today's 26 Great Nail Art Ideas theme. At first, I thought about painting a cassette tape on my nails (I was born in the early 80s, so I made a lot of mixed music tapes as a teenager. No MP3 when I was young (well, at least not for us "common people")...). But I admit, I was too lazy for free hand nail art, so I went with the simple aproach of just using differently shaped tapes.

I started with three coats of Kiko 433 (Gothic Purple), a duochrome shimmer polilsh shifting from purple to a dark, murky green. In real life, the polish looks mostly purple, while the pictures show mostly green. You can see the color shift in the bottle, though.

After the base was completely dry, I added different What's Up Nails vinyls and two coats of Catrice The Big Bling Theory (Million Brilliance LE), a purple textured polish with some hex glitters in it (the glitters look blue in the pictures, but they are purple, too). I skipped the topcoat after removing the vinyls to keep the textured finish.

Nail Crazies Unite: Red & Black

Another friday, another challenge mani. This week, Nail Crazies Unite want to see red and black manis.

For my mani I used aEngland Perceval, MoYou London Black Night and some nail vinyls from What's Up Nails. Sadly, the vinyls tore with removal, one some of the nails I wasn't able to remove the vinyls completely... As usual, I added one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

aEngland polishes are available at various places, you'll find a complete list of retailers here

My Christmas Mani

This is what I wore on my nails for Christmas this year.

This deep red polish with golden flakies is Dior Midnight. I used three coats for opacity. For the accent nails, I used Twinkled T nail vinyls (I thought they look a little like Christmas trees, they do have holiday tree vinyls, though) and OPI GoldenEye, a clear based polish woth lots and lots of golden flakies. One coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top finished this mani.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas: Nude & Color

Another week has passed and it's time for the next 40 Great Nail Art Ideas mani. The color scheme is nude and color, and my personal pattern prompt is tape mani.

As base color I chose Pahlish Proud Titania, a sand colored nude holo. I used three coats for opacity.

Since I learned about nail vinyls I got too lazy to cut nail tape, so I used What's Up Nails straight vinyls for the tape pattern. The vinyls are slightly wider than nail tape, so the lines also got a little wider. The topper color is Takko Créateur, a olive green with intense golden shimmer. After removing the vinyls, I added one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

Takko Lacquers are available at their own shop (US only), Femme Fatale and Mei Mei's Signatures, where I got mine.
