When Colours Collide: black, white and yellow

Today flower stores were allowed to re-open after 6 weeks of shutdown here in Switzerland. I immediatley bought some tulips, I really missed having flowers in my living room. No tulips, but "cousins" of them were my design for When Colours Collide.

I started with two coats of Essence Wild White Ways and added a reverse stamping with black Born Pretty Store stamping polish, MoYou London Sweet Custard and the lovely daffodil pattern of Bundle Monster XL217 plate. One coat of Maniology Smudge Free Top Coat protected the stamping.

Fairbanks Arts

Some (very camera shy) multichrome for today.

Today's polish is Born Pretty Store Fairbanks Arts (Magnetic Aurora Series), a magnetic multichrome shifting from an almost golden olive green over pink to some blue hues. Sadly, it didn't want to show it's true beauty in the pictures, it looks mostly green here. But I can assure you, there's so much more going on than my photos show. I used two coats over a dark olive base (MoYou London Into The Woods) and magnetized only the second coat. One coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top gave the mani some extra shine.

When Colours Collide: red, blue and yellow

The latest round of When Colours Collide asked for the three primary colors.

I started with a yellow base (three coats of Catrice Earnie and Birdy). The red and blue Born Pretty Store polishes I applies with the almost dry brush for an abstract effect. One coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top finished this very quick and easy mani.

Snowflakes

This mani I created for the When Colours Collide challenge some time ago...

I dry-marbeled on my ÜberMat using essence Wild White Ways and royal blue Born Pretty Store stamping polish as base. Then I stamped some snowflakes using Barry M. Silver Foil and B. loves Plates let it snow pale. One coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top secured the stamping.

Chunky Sunset

I still have lots of quite old mani pictures on my computer, like this one from september. The colors clearly state "autumn", but as the winter weather still hasn't arrived in Switzerland, it feels more fall than winter...

As base I applied three coats of Born Pretty Store Sunset, and orange brown creme.

Then I added one coat of Kleancolor Chunky Holo Black, a slightly reddish tinted base filled with translucent multichrome hexes that show the whole rainbow. I really can't tell why there's "black" in name of this topper, since black and white are the only color it doesn't show... One coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top finished the mani.

Frozen Skies

It hasn't really snowed yet where I live, but I do love my snowflake manis in winter...

My base are three coats of Born Pretty Store Blue Skies, a dove grey creme.

For the snowflakes I used Moniology Frozen, a white metallic, and Maniology plate MXM019 (both of the november stamping box). I added one coat of Maniology Smudge Free Top Coat to seal the stamping.

Yps lackiert Challenge: Poppies

Today's Rememberance Day in the UK and the Commonwealth, so poppies are today's challenge theme.

Rememberance Day is not celebrated where I live (in fact, today's marking the beginning of Carnival season...). No wonder, I'm Swiss and Switzerland has not been part of any war since 1847 (we had a short civil war called Sonderbundskrieg in November 1847). But that's no reason not to think about all the people who died in all the wars mankind started.

For my poppies, I used a color combo I already showed way back in 2012, so the two indie polishes I used are already seven years old (and still apply like butter)! The black based nails show two coats of Essence Black Is Back as base, plus one coat of Oopsie Daisies Tyranny, a black jelly base with red hex glitters. For my two accent nails I used two coats of aEngland Perceval as base and stamped a poppy using black Born Pretty Store stamping polish and L034 stamping plate. One coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top finished the mani.

Oopsie Daisies seem to be gone since 2014, but you can still get all aEngland polishes, including Perceval here.

Yps lackiert Challenge: Spooky

With Halloween nearing, this week's prompt for the Yps lackiert Challenge was spooky.

I didn't feel to well last week (caught a cold), so my mani turned out simpler than I originally intended. As base I applied three coats of Born Pretty Store Misty Grey (Earth Tone Series), a grey leaning taupe creme.

Then I stamped on these lovely Dementors (any other Harry Potter fans here?) using black Born Pretty Store stamping polish and Mundo de Uñas Harry Potter 2 stamping plate. One coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top sealed the stamping.
