More snow nails for today, but this time in black and pink.

As base I applied three coats of NYX Deep Space (it's so hard to read the polish name when it's printed in black on a translucent sticker on the back of a near black nail polish...), a sheer black polish with pink flecks in it. The base is a little too sheer for my liking, three coats were only barely opaque...

For the stamping I used Maniology Sheer Blush and MXM020 plate from the same brand. The polish is way redder on the nail than it looks in the bottle. In the bottle it looks more mauve, on the nails it's a vivid pink. One coat of Maniology Smudge Free Top Coat added protection and extra shine.

Frisch Lackiert Challenge: Ombre Nailart

Ombre nail art is this week's theme for the Frisch Lackiert challnge. At first I thought, it shouldn't be a problem to find five polishes in my huge stack for this one, but since I wanted to use the same finish on all nails, it was harder than expected. On my nails, the two darker and the two medium blues look quite similar, but the bottle shot proves I used indeed five different polishes.

I started with the darkest color on my pinkie and went lighter to the thumb. My blues are NYX Royal Blue, Barry M. Indigo, Essie Avenue Maintain, Lapiz Of Luxury and Find Me An Oasis. For the stamping I used white Born Pretty Store stamping polish and ÜberChic plate 15-03. One coat of Bundle Monster Smudge Free Top Coat fixed the stamping.

52 Week Challenge - Camouflage / Dark Green

Two new themes for this week's challenge: camouflage and dark green.

I started with a base of NYX Hunter Green, a dark green creme. The pictures show two thin coats.

Then I added a third, thicker coat of Hunter Green and dabbed some blobbs of Catrice In The Army Glow ( a light olive shimmer) and Zoya Bevin (a sage green creme, shown here) directly with the polish brush on the wet base. After a littel drying time, I finished with one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

Golden Oldie Thursday - Day 3 - Blue

The third theme of the Golden Oldie Tursday Challenge is my favorite color: blue.

I started with three coats of NYX Manhattan, a very dark, slightly purple leaning blue with an intense blue, pink and purple shimmer (if you're very strict you could argue this polish wasn't blue but blurple, but hey: my blog, my rules, and I say it's blue ;-)  ).

Then I used Emily de Molly stamping plate EDM05 and China Glaze Awaken, a slighty blue and purple toned steel grey metallic, to add a flower pattern. One coat of Rica Glossy Glam finished this mani.

As always, all the other participants below.

Smooth Chocolate

Today's boyfriend mani day (he chose the polishes and the stamping pattern) :-)

As base color I used three coats of  NYX Smooth Operator, a slightly sand toned gold foil, and two coats of NYX Milk Chocolate, a rusty brown shimmer, on my ring finger. It's not the first time I wore a polish called Milk Chocolate with this reddish shade of brown. Do nail polish companies really believe that's what milk chocolate looks like? The should visit Switzerland and taste real chocolate, then ;-)

Then I used Pueen plate 44 and Milk Chocolate over Smooth Operator and the other way round to add the stamped pattern. I finished with one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top topcoat.

Moonwalk Is My Number One Nemesis

Just to correct a possible false impression: The blog post just combines the names of two polishes, I don't want to start a pro/contra Michael Jackson discussion :-)

I started this mani with OPI Number One Nemesis (Spiderman Collection), a polish that is really hard to discribe. It has a clear (or sheer black? Can't really tell) base filled with gold, silver and black particles that gives it a green-ish, murky golden foil finish. Number One Nemesis is pretty sheer, I used three coats and could still see my nail line, if I held the fingers to the light.

Then I took a new attempt with a technique I just can't master: glitter gradients. I added several coats (I think it was three in total) of NYX Moonwalk, beginning from the tips and ending each coat a little higher up. Moonwalk has a sheer black base and is filled with small and medium holographic hexes. I'm sure, some of you (maybe most of you) would have chosen a polish with a clear base for a glitter gradient, but I kind of like how the tips get darker.

Well, I don't really know. Don't hate it, but don't love it either. I think I have to try much more, until I'm able to create a glitter gradient I'm really happy with...

Royal Wisteria Ringer

Purple is today's color.

I started with two medium coats of NYX Girls Royal Purple, a dark purple polish filled with blue and purple flecks.

Then I added one coat of Darling Diva Polish Ringer, a color shifting topcoat shifting from red to green. I've read that it's supposed to be a dupe to Max Factor Fantasy Fire and the famous Clarins 230, but as I own neither of them, I can't confirm or deny that.

Then I used Kiko polish 622 (Wisteria, Mirror metallics), a blue-ish pastel lilac metallic, and Konad plate m69 for the stamping. I sealed the mani with one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.

Ringer and other Darling Diva Polishes are available on Etsy, at Mei Mei Signatures and at Llarowe.
