Yps lackiert Challenge: Poppies

 


Today's Rememberance Day in the UK and the Commonwealth, so poppies are today's challenge theme.

Rememberance Day is not celebrated where I live (in fact, today's marking the beginning of Carnival season...). No wonder, I'm Swiss and Switzerland has not been part of any war since 1847 (we had a short civil war called Sonderbundskrieg in November 1847). But that's no reason not to think about all the people who died in all the wars mankind started.

For my poppies, I used a color combo I already showed way back in 2012, so the two indie polishes I used are already seven years old (and still apply like butter)! The black based nails show two coats of Essence Black Is Back as base, plus one coat of Oopsie Daisies Tyranny, a black jelly base with red hex glitters. For my two accent nails I used two coats of aEngland Perceval as base and stamped a poppy using black Born Pretty Store stamping polish and L034 stamping plate. One coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top finished the mani.

Oopsie Daisies seem to be gone since 2014, but you can still get all aEngland polishes, including Perceval here.

Top 10 Polishes 2015

It's the end of the year, so it's time to show you my favorite polishes of 2015! I didn't buy too many polishes this year, except the "A Box, Indied" I had a subscription for, so a lot of my favorites are from the boxes, as I only chose polishes that were released this year. A Box, Indied - Doctor Bombay's Potion

The fifth and last polish of the october "A Box, Indied" is Colors by Llarowe Doctor Bombay's Potion.





Doctor Bombay's Potion is a deep green linear holo with blue undertones and a subtle (and very camera shy) golden shimmer. I used two thin coats for opacity.





For the stamping (that somehow reminds me of a winter-y forest) I used aEngland Encore Margot and Bundle Monster plate BM-407. As a finishing move, I added one coat of Pahlish Magic Mirror Top Coat.

A Box, Indied - Witch & Famous

Happy Halloween! Polish number four of the october "A Box, Indied" is Different Dimension Witch & Famous, and it has a perfect halloween-y color :-)





Witch & Famous is a vivid orange holo with small gold and silver glitters. Two coats were enough for opacity.








For the Jack O' Lantern faces I used P2 Eternal and a nail art brush. As always, I added one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

A Box, Indied - Twitch Or Treat

The next polish of the october "A Box, Indied" is Girly Bits Twitch Or Treat.

Twitch Or Treat is a plum colored linear holo. I used three coats for opacity. For the accent nails I started with a base of Barry M. Gold Foil. After the base was completely dry, I applied chevron nail vinyls, and then one generous coat of Twitch Or Treat. After removal of the nail vinyls, I finished with one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

A Box, Indied - Dandy Warlock AND Born Pretty Store Water Decals

Hare Polishe's Dandy Warlock is the second polish of the october "A Box, Indied" For the accent nails I used water decals that were offered by Born Pretty Store, thank you so much!







Dandy Warlock has a black jelly base with tiny holo glitters and red and copper flakies. It is quite sheer, but wearable with three coats, as the pictures show. For the accent nails I used the pattern on the lower right of the four-patter-sheet. You can get these 40 water decals here at Born Pretty Store. For 3.99$ you get four full manis (or 40 accent nails). I used the decals over a white base (Essie Blanc) and had no problems with application.

A Box, Indied - Endora's Aura

It's time for the next "A Box, Indied". The first polish I want to show you is Serum No. 5 Endora's Aura.

Endora's Aura is a lilac linear holo. I used two coats for the pictures.





For the stamping I used Color Club Wild At Heart and Bundle Monste plate BM-616. One coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top finished this mani.
