Gold Rock

Something more colorful for today.

As base I used three coats of Essie School Of Hard Rock, a teal creme with grey undertones. I was so sure I had already shown this one, so I didn't take a swatch picture. But I found out I only used it in a nail art post where you can't really see it on it's own...

On the base I dabbed one coat of Lumina Lacquer Gold Dust Woman, a clear based glitter topper with teal and gold glitters, hexes, squares, dots, stars and half moons. For a smoother finish, I added one coar of KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

I usually pair my polishes in the same color family, as I did here, but honestly, I somewhat regret not wearing the topper over black or a really dark blue. I'm sure it must look fabulous over a dark base that makes the colors really pop. But then, I can always wear it again, over a different base, can't I? ;-)

I seem to have bought this polish back in 2013, oops. Lumina Lacquer are no longer produced, but maybe you can find some bottles in a blog sale or something...

Petropolitan Camouflage

It's already december! Is it just me or does time really fly?

My base color for today's mani is Catrice Petropolitan, a green leaning teal with a blue glass fleck shimmer. Petropolitan is on the sheer side, it was just about opaque after three coats.

On top of Petropolitan, I dabbed one coat of Lumina Lacquer Camouflage. Camouflage has a clear base with lots of various glitters: green microglitter, green hexes and dots, teal squares, two sizes of teal hexes, lime green hexes, big translucent neon green hexes, matte green stars, small and big black hexes, black hearts and huge teal holo dots.

I placed the bottle upside down for about half an hour before using it, so even the bigger glitters came out of the bottle easily. But the base was not as packed with glitters as I expected, and it was a little thinner than I prefer, so I had a lot of base on my nails until I was happy with the glitter distribution, and due to the thick layer of polish, the glitters started to slide to the sides of my nails. Some of the big black hexes (not all of them, though), were curling, so I could still feel them through the layer of KBShimmer Clearly On Top I applied.

Lumina Lacquer are avaiable on Big Cartel and at MeiMei's Signatures, where I got mine.Camouflage is discontinued, but there are a lot of other beauties available.
