Expelliarmus!
Another Doctor Who mani for today, this time with Digital Nails Expelliarmus!
I started with a purple no name polish by ELF. The formula was very sheer and thin, leaning on runny, drying time was aweful. I used three coats for this still quite translucent look, to wear it alone I would have used four or five coats. I really can't recommend this one, the color is nice, but nothing special, and it's just a pain to work with.
Then I added two coats of Expelliarmus. "Expelliarmus! is a SUPER RICH royal purple jelly with a load of blue violet to magenta color shift microflakies and magenta circle glitter in two sizes, plus HUGE violet and silver holographic circle glitters. It is designed to be layered, whether at three thin coats itself to produce an unimaginable depth, or over another purple to showcase the crazy glitters."

While Harry Potter fans certainly recognize "Expelliarmus" as one of the often used spells, this polish is actually named after the Doctor Who episode "The Shakespeare Code" (but of course, there it was used as a Harry Potter trivia).
I had no issues with application, one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of Rica Glossy Glam topcoat provided a smooth finish.
Digital Nails polishes are available on Etsy, but sadly, they don't ship outside of the US anymore.

Sucks that that e.l.f. nail polish is such bad quality... Is it an old one? Not so long ago they revamped the formula, and it's supposed to be a lot better now.
ReplyDeleteIt's neither brand new nor ancient, I guess I bought it about 4-6 months ago, so I can't say if it's the old or the new formula (but it didn't say anything about new, so it probably is the old one).
DeleteGah! I am dumbstruck. This polish is gorgeous. I had passed it on due to the shimmer in it. Now I realise how much it adds to the polish. *Hitting myself on the head for not getting it*
ReplyDeleteI meant the Digital Nails one, of course :P
DeleteMaybe we're lucky and they start to ship through Llarowe or some other retailer someday, so that we non-american gals can continue buying them...
