OMG LED Nail Decals

Today I want to show you the new LED nail decals OMG Nail Strips sent me for review (thank you very much!). The LED decal reacts to a NFC field, that is emitted by some smartphones etc. The decal comes in three light colors, red, blue and white, I got the white one.


The base for my mani is China Glaze Release (The Giver Limited Edition), a muted lilac creme. I used three coats for opacity.

The LED Nail Decals set consists of one decal with a LED diode plus 18 additional decals to add over the diode. Sadly I forgot to take a picture of the decal shet before applying the decals on my nail, so I only have a picture of what was left over. But there are a lot of pictures of the decals to be found if you google them.

The decal with the diode has to be applied first, before adding nail polish, just over the base coat. I cut the decal a little, as it was too wide for my nail. Then I polished over it, leaving the diode free (if you don't, you won't see the light). As a last step, I added the butterfly decal plus a gereous coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top as topcoat.

I really love the idea of a blinking diode on my nails, and I really wanted to love this set, but sadly, it didn't really work for me. The LED decal is quite sturdy and my nails are not flat but curved, so the decal refused to stay put on my nail. It just kept separating from my nail. I can't tell if it was my curvy nail or my base coat (Essence XXL Nail Thickener), but it wouldn't stay, so I couldn't work it. But I think it was users error, as I haven't really heard about that problems with other bloggers.

A Box, Indied - Shamrock & Roll

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Today's the perfect day to start with this month's "A Box, Indied" with a green polish called Shamrock & Roll.





Shamrock & roll (by Contrary Polish) is a slightly blue leaning grass green jelly with lime green flakie shimmer. The jelly base is quite sheer, I used three coats and it was still slightly translucent.

On my ring and middle finger I applied three coats of OPI Green On The Runway, a duochrome shimmer shifting from green to brown. I added some clover leaves (or shamrocks as they're called in Ireland) using Catrice Metallicious (Metallure Limited Edition) and Pueen plate SE03A. One coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top finished this mani.

52 Week Challenge - Mermaid / Lilac and Green

 This week's challenge themes are mermaid and lilac/green.





For this mani I started with a base of Essie Mint Candy Apple. On my pinkie, index and thumb I then added one coat of KBShimmer Squared Away, a cleared base glitter topper with lots of square glitters in silver, blue, aqua, magenta and lilac.

On my ring and middle finger I added some home made stamping decals (my first), I used Essence Black Stamping Polish, Essie Turquoise&Caicos and Bangle Jangle plus OPI Jade Is The New Black with MoYou Sailor Collection plate 07. I fixed everything with one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

While creating the stamping decals was pretty easy, I had quite some troubles applying them, as the turned out to be somewhat stiff and brittle. Does anyone haye any tips to avoid tearing (like on my middle finger) or edges sticking out (ring finger)?

Open Fields

For today I have another one of the ILNP Multichrome Flakies to show you: Open Fields.

The flakies in Open Fields are shifting from blue over teal and green to yellow. As base color I used two coats of OPI Here Today... Aragon Tomorrow (Spain Collection). To add Open Fields I used a dabbing motion to get the glitter density up. One Coat of KBShimmer Clearly Op Top finsihed this mani.

Let Silver Fly

Silver and teal are today's colors.





The base color is Cult Nails Let Me Fly, a dusky teal with shimmery glass flecks. I used three thin coats for opacity.

For the stamping I used Barry M. Silver Foil and Pueen plate 76. As always, I finished with one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

52 Week Challenge - Kids TV / Non US Brand

Another week has come, so it's time for the next challenge themes: Kids TV and non US Brand





The non US brand I chose is Catrice (from Germany), a brand I frequently use, as you probably know. The polish's name is Holo In One (Holomania Limited Edition), a turquoise holo. I used two coats for the pictures.

For the stamping I used My Online Shop stamping plate MJIX and black stamping polishes. I call the stamped pattern Teletubbies, but honestly, I think they might be Monchhichi (does anyone remember them?). But since there was also a Monchhichi TV series in the 80s (at least according to Wikipedia), I guess it doesn't really matter, which one it is...

Teal Scene

After a long time, my boyfriend decided to choose some polishes for me again. Here's the combo he chose.





The base color is Essence Green Scene (Kalinka Beauty Trend Edition), a slightly dusky turquoise creme. I used two coats for opacity.

The glitter topper is Milani Teal, green, blue and silver hexes plus blue microglitter in a clear base.

I dabbed on one coat and had no issues with application. One coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top provided a smooth finish.
