Quartz

More work wear for today (you can count the amount of business meetings I had on the amount of work wear manis I show ;-)   )





My base color is Chanel Quartz, a cool toned neutral shimmer. Depending on the light, it looks more beige/nude or more grey. Quartz is pretty sheer, I used three coats for (more or less) opacity.





Then I used Konad plate m64 and Enchanted Polish Vampire's Dessert (already shown here) to stamp this geometric pattern. One coat of Rica Glossy Glam topcoat marked the final step of this mani.

Enchanted Polish are pretty hard to get nowadays (as you can see me bottle is an old one, when they weren't as htg) but if you're lucky they're available at Mei Mei's Signatures, Pshiiit and Big Cartel.
I'd recommend to follow the brand on Facebook or Twitter to get updates on restocks.Vampire's Dessert was a limited edition back in 2012 and is no longer available.

Tried & True

While I'm still longing for winter to come (only two more weeks until I finally can go skiing), I feel like wearing typical winter colors, like today's Tried & True by Jindie Nails.










Tried & True is "a white crelly with several different colors of metallic glitters including gunmetal, silver, magenta, bright royal blue, purple, teal, lavender & pink."

I used three coats for this semi-opaque looks and had no issues with application, no fishing for glitters needed. One coat of Rica Glossy Glam was enough to provide a smooth finish.

Golden Oldie Thursday - Day 5 - Green

Green is the theme of the fifth round of the Golden Oldie Thursday.

For the "green week" I chose one of my favorite movie series: James Bond

As base color I used OPI Live And Let Die (Skyfall Collection), a very dark green with green and gold shimmer flecks that looks almost black in low light. The formula was perfect, I only used one coat.





With a gold metallic polish (China Glaze Passion, Romantique Collection) and Vivid Lacquer plate 007 (of course, there's no other number you could give a James Bond stamping plate) I added a picture of the famous "barrel shot" and the classic 007 gun symbol. One coat of Rica Glossy Glam topcoat finished this mani.










While Live And Let Die isn't my favorite Bond movie, it absolutely is my favorite Bond title song, but I prefer the Guns n' Roses cover version over the original Paul McCartney one.








And because I apparently didn't really think this mani through, a rare picture of my cinderella hand, where I didn't stamp the barrel shot "the wrong way" :-)

She Walks In Discreet Beauty

For today I have a work wear mani to show you.

I started with Catrice Discreet (Thrilling Me Softly Limited Edition), a slightly pink toned beige creme. Nothing really special with this polish, just one of these neutrals that can be combined with almost everything. I used two medium coats for opacity and had no isses with application.





Then I used a England She Walks In Beauty to create a glitter gradient.

She Walks In Beauty has a sheer gold foil base filled with rose gold hexes in various sizes. Again, no issues with application (I don't think I ever had issues with a England polishes, their formual usually is just great). One coat of Rica Glossy Glam topcoat provided a smooth and shiny finish.

Berry Patch

Another golden oldie for today, and even a pink one (I could have use this one for the first Golden Oldie Thursday, too).









KBShimmer Berry Patch has a soft pink jelly base with tiny red glitters, purple and silver holographix medium hexes (the purple ones are a little smaller than the silver ones) and larger blue hexes. The jelly base is very sheer, I used three coats for the pictures, and especially on the middle finger you an still clearly see my nail underneath. One coat of Rica Glossy Glam topcoat provided a smooth finish.

Jessica's Blue And Gold Nails

Today I have something new for you: I "hired" a guest blogger (well, I don't pay her, so you can't really call it hired, can you?). Meet Jessica, my real-life best friend!

Hi

I'm a good friend of Aglaya and as she started her blog I got hooked on Nail Polish. Before I would paint my nails perhaps 5 times a year… and the 4 polishes I got would become dry between the uses…

At first I just looked, because you know how it goes - me a working mom of 2 active boys should take the time to do something more than just the absolutely necessary? But this didn't last long :-)

Sometimes I send Aglaya some pics, if I think my nails look really good - and now she found I should write about them sometimes - cool right?

About this mani:

I used 2 coats of essence my fortune cookie, really tiny golden glitters and pretty sheer. 

Then I took striping tape to add some pattern - I wanted to try some, that's the reason no nail is exactly like the other. (I like the ring finger most - what about you?)

I now added a thick coat of Smalto per unghie No 10 (this italian brand has just numbers no names) a really beautiful royal blue and removed quickly the striping tape.

Nightkle

One more golden oldie for today, this time by a brand that don't even exists anymore: Million Lacquers





Nightkle has tons of small holographic glitters in a sheer black base.

I layered one coat of Nightkle over black (a England Camelot). On my ring finger and thumb I stamped some stars using Barry M Silver Foil and Bundle Monster plate BM-21. One coat of Rica Glossy Glam topcoat finished this mani.

As I mentioned, Million Lacquers don't exist anymore, so sadly, there's no way to get this polish anymore.
