The Locket And The Diadem

For today's mani I used two polishes of 365 Days Of Color's Harry Potter themed Horcrux Collection. I only started reading Harry Potter when the fourth volume (Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire) was published in german, a couple of months before the premiere of the first movie in 2001 (wow, was that really 12 years ago?). But I got caught instantly and have read all seven books several times. But I guess, there's no use in recommending the books: if you're interested in reading fantasy books, I'm sure you've read them already, and if you're not - well, your not.

As base color I used The Locket, a gold toned olive green shimmer. The Locket is named after Slalazar Slytherin's locket, the fourth Horcrux, and as it's called after a Slytherin object, of course it has to be green. The polish is quite sheer, three coats were just about enough for opacity. I had no issues with application and the polish dried rather quickly.

On top of The Locket, I dabbed one coat of The Diadem, a clear polish with small silver, gold and blue hexes, medium hexes in silver and silver holographic, and silver circles. The Diadem is named after the fifth Horcrux, Rowena Ravenclaw's diadem.

The circles didn't come out of the bootle too easily, I only got out two (one on the right and one on the left hand), but other than that, application of The Diadem gave me no problems. It isn't really gritty, so one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top topcoat was enough for a smooth finish.

365 Days Of Color polishes can be bought at their own store and on Storenvy.

    1. Das kann manchmal ein Problem sein, je grösser die Glitzerteile sind, desto schwieriger kommen sie aus der Flasche. Die Flasche eine Weile auf den Kopf stellen hilft meist, aber hier habe ich es vergessen...

  2. Myeah, this one looks indeed a bit tricky to apply, but still, the end result looks pretty fab :-D

    1. And in the end, when polishing your nails, looking fab is all that counts, isn't it? ;-)

  3. I love this combo!
I'm not much into fantasy books, and I have never read Harry Potter or any other saga really... but I did enjoyed watching the movies!

    1. Do you prefer movies over books in general, or just in the fantasy genre? I do love both, when I love a book that has been made to a movie, I usually watch the movie, too, and the other way round. The only exception is the Science Fiction genre, I love Sci Fi movies and TV shows, but I don't really read Sci Fi books, can't even really tell you why, that's just how it is ;-)

    2. I like movies AND books, but couldn't say I prefer one over the other. Except for fantasy genre, I like a fantasy film any day, but could not read a fantasy book passed the page two, a bit like you with Sci-Fi, I don't have an explanation for it :-)

  5. Beautiful mani, both of the polishes are incredibly gorgeous!!! I don't mind if some glitters pop only here and there on the nails, it gives the mani such an unexpected and fun twist. I am not into Fantasy books or Movies anymore. I was a total addict and it stopped from one day to the other with the exception of Lord of the Rings - of course. And of course this halt did not include polish - LOL

    1. Why should you skip a gourgeous polish, just because you don't like the inspiration for it? On the other hand, why shouldn't you buy a, let's say only 90 % gorgeous polish, if you love the inspiration? Why shouldn't you buy all the polishes? ;-)
