Yps lackiert Challenge: Poppies

Today's Rememberance Day in the UK and the Commonwealth, so poppies are today's challenge theme.

Rememberance Day is not celebrated where I live (in fact, today's marking the beginning of Carnival season...). No wonder, I'm Swiss and Switzerland has not been part of any war since 1847 (we had a short civil war called Sonderbundskrieg in November 1847). But that's no reason not to think about all the people who died in all the wars mankind started.

For my poppies, I used a color combo I already showed way back in 2012, so the two indie polishes I used are already seven years old (and still apply like butter)! The black based nails show two coats of Essence Black Is Back as base, plus one coat of Oopsie Daisies Tyranny, a black jelly base with red hex glitters. For my two accent nails I used two coats of aEngland Perceval as base and stamped a poppy using black Born Pretty Store stamping polish and L034 stamping plate. One coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top finished the mani.

Oopsie Daisies seem to be gone since 2014, but you can still get all aEngland polishes, including Perceval here.

Mischief Night

Now that fall is definitely here, it's time to wear some of last year's Halloween polishes :-)

Oopsie Daisies Mischief Night has a sheer black base filled with orange, fuchsia and dusky lilac hexes in various sizes. Application was a breeze, no dabbing or fishing for glitters needed. I layered two coats over a black creme (a England Lancelot).

Mischief Night dried pretty smoothly, so I added only one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer for a glossy finish.

Oopsie Daisies polishes are available on Etsy. As I mentioned, Mischief Night was part of last year's Halloween Collection, so it's no longer available, but there are lots of other beauties to discover.

Soldier Of Polish Fashion

Today's blog post title is playing with the word polish like "nail polish" and polish like "from Poland".

As base color I used OPI I Saw... U Saw... We Saw... Warsaw (Euro Centrale Collection; Warsaw's the capital of Poland) a dark creme that looks almost navy, but is in fact teal (my camera swallowed a bit of the green part of the color, irl it's a little greener but not much). Application was easy, I used two coats for opacity. I'd recommend to apply rather cautiously, it's very pigmented and clean-up's a pain, as the deep color tends to smear everything. So it's easier if you don't have to clean up at all.

On top of Warsaw (don't feel like repeating the whole name here ;-) ), I added two coats of Oopsie Daises Soldier Of Fashion. "Representing in blue and yellow, Soldier of Fashion is inspired by NC from Planetside 2. This polish has yellow and multiple sizes of blue glitter, suspended in a rich blue jelly base."
(Source: Oopsie Daisies)

The jelly base of Soldier Of Fashion is not a true blue, but a little on the teal side with a noticable green undertone. It's very sheer, so I decided to layer it instead of wearing it on it's own (I probably would have used four coats). For a glassy finish I added one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri. My bottle of Insta-Dri still doesn't like the heat, please excuse the excessive bubbling.

Oopsie Daisies polishes, including Soldier Of Fashion, are available on Etsy.

Cosmic Ruins

Black jelly with glitter today: Oopsie Daisies Cosmic Ruins.

Cosmic Ruins is "a black jelly based polish with various colors, sizes and shapes of glitter as well as subtle blue shimmer. Can be layered over black or worn on its own."
(Source: Oopsie Daisies)

I layered two coats of Cosmic Ruins over a black creme (as always, Manhattan 1010N) and had no issues with application, no dabbing or fishing for glitters needed. I finished with one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

Oopsie Daisies polishes, including Cosmic Ruins, are available on Etsy.

Strawberry Trifle

I usually don't wear pink, but I do have a couple of pink polishes. This is one of them, Oopsie Daisies Strawberry Trifle.

"A fun twist on an delicious favorite, Strawberry Trifle is inspired by the colors and flavors seen in this yummy, layered dessert. Makes a unique gift! A pink creme based polish with red, pink and white glitter."
(Source: Oopsie Daisies).

Application was easy, I used three coats for full coverage and finished with one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.

Oopsie Daisies polishes, including Strawberry Trifle, can be found on Etsy.

Keepin' It Kosher

Blue again for today’s mani.

My base color is OPI Dating A Royal, a slightly muted royal (duh) blue creme. I used three coats and it dries really glossy (the picture shows it without topcoat).

On top of Dating A Royal I dabbed one coat of Oopsie Daisies Keppin‘ It Kosher (Wintertime Wonders Collection), a clear base with two sizes of matte blue hexes, silver hexes and white hexes and squares.

I had no issues applying Keepin‘ It Kosher, the glitter spread easily. I finished with one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

The Wintertime Wonders Collection is on sale now on Etsy, so you shouldn’t wait too long if you want to get some of the polishes, I guess they're being discontinued.

Tiramisu

Today I have a work appropriate (at least in my opinion) glitter polish for you: Oopsie Daisies Tiramisu

Tiramisu has a pink toned nude base with medium chocolate brown hexes, small white hexes and chocolate brown and white microglitter. The base is very sheer, I used four coats and it's still not 100% opaque. The glitter hides the nail line a little, but I'd recommend layering Tiramisu over a nude creme.

I finished with one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.

Oopsie Daisies polishes, including Tiramisu, are available on Etsy.
