Forest Of The Lawn

The last few months have been very warm and dry here in Switzerland (and a lot of other places on this planet), so juicy green leaves are not something you see often at the moment. Most trees look more brown than green here. So I painted some green leaves on my nails.

My base color is Pahlish Forest Of The Dead, a dark green jelly with green, gold and holographic microglitters. I used three coats for opacity.

For the leaves I used Kiko Mirror Lacquer 626 (Lawn Green) and B. loves plates B.04 Leaves Of Happiness plate. One coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top protected the stamping and gave the mani some extra shine.

Forest Of The Dead is no longer produced, but other Pahlish polishes are available on their own shop and at Overall Beauty.

Nail Crazies Unite: Music With Rainbow Colors

This week, the Nail Crazies Unite want to see music with rainbow colors.

For this mani, I used two coats of Essence Wild White Ways as a base and MoYou London Sweet Custard, Autumn Harvest and Purple House plus red, blue and green Born Pretty Store stamping polishes. The stamping plate I used Is DRK-D, and of course I added one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top. You can't see the whole rainbow on my nails, they're too short for that, but the last picture shows I used them all (I always wipe my scraper on a tissue while stamping).

The Road To São Paolo

Let's start the week with some multichrome flakies. I had real troubles taking pictures of this mani, about 80% of my shots where out of fokus. I guess my camera was just too much in awe of these lovely flakies ;-)

I started with two coats of OPI I São Paolo Over There, a cool toned taupe creme. Then I dabbed on one generous coat of ILNP The Road To Awe, a flakie topper that "cascades through an array of purple, intense pink, wine, copper, and gold." (Source: ILNP). Of course, I added one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top for a smooth finish.

ILNP polishes are available on Etsy, Hypnotic Polish, Harlow & Co. and at their own shop.

26 Great Nail Art Ideas: Stars

Stars are this week's challenge theme.

My base color is Colors By Llarowe Orion, and the perfect example of what can happen if you're waiting too long with wearing a polish. When I bought this one a couple of years ago (yes, I know, shame on me...), it was a deep purple jelly with lots of silver microglitter. As I read in other blogposts about it, it was opaque with 2-3 coats. When I took my bottle out of the drawer, it looked more plum than purple, and turned to chocolate brown on my nails. Plus, it apparently got sheerer with time, the tree coats I used weren't completely opaque. I still like what it looks, but it's not what I bought anymore...

For the stamping I used Kiko Mirror Lacquer 630 (Golden Rose) and ÜberChic plate 1-03. As usual, I added one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

Dance Legend 623 Magnetic

Today's mani is very simple, but boy, did I love wearing it...

I used just one polish, Dance Legend 623 Magnetic. It's a purple shimmer that turns very dark and very light, once you used the magnet. I applied three coats, magnetized a diagonal stripe, one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top, finished.

Embrace Is Not Enough

A happy pink glitter topper for monday.

My base color is OPI The World Is Not Enough. As a huge James Bond fan, I just had to buy most of their Skyfall collection a couple of years back, but I have to be honest, this polish really disappointed me. While it looks quite interesting in the bottle, it seemed to be a color shifting shimmer, it's just plain boring on the nails. Instead of showing a color shift from grey over brown to green, like in the bottle, it's just a very sheer taupe with some glittery sparkles. I used three coats, and as you can see, it's nowhere near opaque.

To hide the boring base a little, I dabbed on one coat of Orly Embrace. Embrace was part of their breast cancer awareness collection (thus the pink ribbon charm on the bottle), so of course it's pink. It has a clear base and three sizes of pink hex glitters, the smallest of them are holographic. I added one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top for a smooth surface.

Nail Crazies Unite: Sea Creatures

Sea creatures is this week's challenge theme. I live in a country without sea coast. I've been to the sea a couple of times (Mediterranean Sea, Atlantic, Pacific, Baltic Sea, North Sea. OK, I've seen quite a lot of seas, actually), but the only animals I've seen there are seagulls and seals. But I've seen a lot of sea animals in zoos or aquariums.

For this task, I chose a pond mani. I started with a blue Born Pretty Store stamping polish and stamped these sirenias from MoYou London Sailor Collection plate 05 (I first thought the pattern showed some fat fish, only after stamping I realised they are sirenias or something like that, a mammal in any case) with white Born Pretty Store stamping polish. Then I added two coats of the very sheer teal Nfu Oh jelly JS32. Another round of sirenias, two more coats of the Nfu Oh and one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top, that's it.
