A Klingon on Baker Street
After tuesday's Sherlock skittlette, another Sherlock polish for today, by a brand that calls itself after one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyles famous Sherlock Holmes stories: A Study In Polish (of course, the name of the story isn't A Study In Polish, but A Study In Scarlet. The matching episode of Sherlock is called A Study In Pink, btw).
As base color I used three coats of China Glaze Cling On (I prefer the name Klingon ;-) ), a gold toned olive green shimmer. Cling On is acutally a magnetic polish, but I didn't buy it for the magnetic effect, but because I thought it would be great for stamping, as most magnetic polishes are very well pigmented. Well, not this one: like I mentioned, I needed three coats to get it opaque, and it was slightly brush-strokey (it was less visible irl).
On top of Cling On I dabbed one coat of A Study In Polish 221B, a clear base with black and gold hexes in various sizes plus some small matte black squares. 221B is the house number on Baker Street, where Sherlock Holmes lives together with Dr. Watson, this polish is, of course, part of the A Study In Polish Sherlock Collection.
Application of 221B was easy, the glitters spread nicely and the base/glitter ration was perfect. Some of the larger gold hexes look curled, but it's only reflective curling, the glitters look curled, but they don't feel curled. I added one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top for a smooth finish.
A Study In Polish are available at their own store, but sadly, they stopped shipping outside of northern America (US and Canada).

DeleteI'm glad you like it, Christine!
Love your title for this one :-) Great combination! The base color is amazing, the top coat is divine, and together they are just out of this world pretty.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it, Melissa! Well, Klingons are out of our world, but they're not really famous for beauty (at least not on earth, of course they think they are gorgeous) ;-)
