9 Crimes

Today I have a polish by the swiss indie brand Cadillacquer to show you: 9 Crimes

9 Crimes has a grey toned periwinkle (or ist it a periwinkle toned grey?) base with golden shimmer and lots of hexes in three sizes, that look white but are, in fact, silver. Application was very easy, no dabbing or fishing for glitters needed, I used three coats for opacity. 9 Crimes dried pretty smoothly, one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer provided a glossy finish.

Toubkal Skittlette

Once again, I let my boyfriend pick the polishes for my mani, this is what he came up with.





My middle and ring finger show three coats of Elevation Polish Toubkal, a deep, bordeaux-leaning red with lots of red, golden and orange flakes that look like the polish is glowing from the inside. Toubkal is a mountain in Morocco and the highest mountain in northern Africa.









My other fingers show three coats of OPI My Very First Knockwurst (Germany Collection), a pink toned nude creme. On my pinkie and thumb I added a stamping with Essie Carry On and the DRK-A plate. I finished the mani with one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.

Mischief Night

Now that fall is definitely here, it's time to wear some of last year's Halloween polishes :-)

Oopsie Daisies Mischief Night has a sheer black base filled with orange, fuchsia and dusky lilac hexes in various sizes. Application was a breeze, no dabbing or fishing for glitters needed. I layered two coats over a black creme (a England Lancelot).

Mischief Night dried pretty smoothly, so I added only one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer for a glossy finish.

Oopsie Daisies polishes are available on Etsy. As I mentioned, Mischief Night was part of last year's Halloween Collection, so it's no longer available, but there are lots of other beauties to discover.

Is That Silva?

I'm not a huge fan of magnetic polishes, I do own a couple of them, but used them only for stampings, as the magnetic effect never really worked out. But as a huge James Bond fan, I just had to get one of OPI's Bond magnetic polishes.





Is That Silva? is a medium silver-grey polish with tiny scattered holo glitters. It's surprisingly sheer (usually, magnetic polishes are very opaque), so I used three coats for opacity. I magnetized the third coat with the OPI magnet that came with the polish, and it worked very well. As you can see in the bottle shot, the magnet sits in a roughly U-shaped plastic form, where you can rest your finger on the lower part and just press the upper part down to your cuticle, so you won't touch the nail with the magnet.

Is That Silva? turns a dark charcoal grey one magnetized, and the effect is evident. I took the pictures of my thumb right after magnetizing it, the others a little later. You can see that the silvery stripes are very narrow at the beginning, but get a little wider after the polish has dried.

Oceanic Textured Tape

Today's mani as a variation of the textured tape mani I showed you back in july, I used two polishes I bought in Oslo which match not only in color, but in name, too.

The base color I used is GOSH Ocean, a frosty duochrome shifting from aqua to turquoise. The color shift is not too obvious, but still visible. Formula of Ocean really surprised me, I expected it to be thin and sheer, as most drugstore brand duochromes are. But it's a little thick (in a easily managable way) and completely opaque in two coats.





After speeding up drying time with one coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri, I placed some striping tape on my nails, added one thick coat of IsaDora Ocean Crush, and immediately removed the tape. Ocean Crush is a turquoise textured polish with lots of tiny golden glitters.





I didn't add any topcoat, as I wanted to keep the textured effect of Ocean Crush.

Resurrected Lotus

For today's mani I used a "pretty old" (summer 2012 I guess) polish from Darling Diva Polish's Battlestar Galactica series.

As base color I used Zoya Lotus (unlike other girls, I think of cars when I hear the name, not flowers...), a slightly grey-toned purple with a strong pink shimmer. I used three thin coats for opacity.





On top of Lotus, I dabbed one coat of Darling Diva Polish Resurrection. "This is full of super sized iridescent hex glitters as well as smaller iridescent hexes and squares in a shimmery pink base."

The bottle really looks like it's filled with the goo BSG's cylons resurrected of (or in)...

As you can see in my pictures, the iridescent glitters glow in various colors, green, blue, pink, yellow... Getting them on the nails was easy, only the biggest ones needed some fishing.

For a smooth finish, I added one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.
