Too subtle purple Stamping Alias Metallilac

When's nail art too subtle? When you can't see it even if you know it's there...

For this (in my eyes failed) mani I used Color Club Alias as base color, a blackened base packed with duochrome microglitters shifting from a deep, plummy purple to a golden green. I used three coats for opacity and had no issues with application.

Then I used Catrice Heavy Metallilac, a vibrant purple shimmer, and Pueen plate 26 to add a stamping. As you can see... you can hardly see it. Next time I'll use a different base color... I finished this mani with one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.

  1. I still find the mani quite intriguing despite your statement. It reminds me of Damask I have seen with interwoven patterns that you also can see only when your twist and turn the cloth

  2. Das Stamping ist ja wirklich sehr subtil. Aber die Grundfarben gefallen mir beide :)

    1. An den Lacken habe in per se auch nichts auszusetzen, nur die Kombi war vielleicht nicht so ideal ;-)

  3. Color club Alias is GORGEOus! so anything on it is still gorgeous, and stamping "ton sur ton" seems to be a trend, so I don't see anything not to love about this mani!

  7. Beautiful, both of these! I adore Heavy Metallilac and I'm so sad to learn it's been discontinued! I'll love my bottle all the more, lol.

    2. Welcome, Liesl! I bought my bottle of Heavy Metallilac with a discount when it got discontinued, but as I have a huge (really really huge) stash, I think it will last forever ;-)

  8. I love subtle stampings like these :) next time you could try and mattify it - it usually helps to bring more contrast in the colors.

    1. That's a great idea, I'll try the next time I consider a stamping too subtle. Thank you, Deborah!
