Snowbird in Stormy Skies

Today I have a blue indie-combo to show you.

I started with three coats of Girly Bits Stormy Skies, a light blueish grey. Or is it a greyish blue? Or even a light muted teal? Whatever you want to call this color, it has a pretty strong shimmer, that was almost impossible to capture on the nails. It's more visible in the bottle shots.

Stormy Skies, once dried, has a gritty, almost sand like texture. You can see it pretty good on my pictures.

On top of Stormy Skies, I added one dabbed coat of Candeo Colors Snowbird (Winter 2012 Collection),  "a mixture of matte blue hex in various sizes with small holographic lime and small and medium gold holo hex in a clear base."

There are two versions of blue hex glitter in this one, small and medium "normal" blue hexes and larger matte hexes.

I finished with one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.

Girly Bits polishes are available at her own storeLlaroweHarlow & Co.Overall Beauty and Mei Mei's Signatures.

Candeo Colors can be purchased at their own store and at Llarowe.

  1. Wow, Snowbird is very pretty!!
Thank you so much for sharing.
I should note, that while Stormy Skies does dry with a rough, sand-like texture, I am personally not a fan of that finish, so I add a top coat and it is quite smooth, and it actually brings out the micro-shimmer a LOT.

    1. Well, OPI (and I think China Glaze, too) consider this sandy texture as the new trend to come in 2013. So you're a trendsetter without even appreciating it ;-)

If I had worn Stormy Skies alone, I would have used top coat (I always do), but as I used it as a base color for layering, I didn't want to add even more coats, this mani already consists of 7 layers...

Considering that Stormy Skies is already shimmery without top coat (I could see the shimmer, I just could't really capture it with my camera) it must be really sparkly with top coat. I have to try that out soon.
