Halloween

Happy Halloween!

For today, I decided to copy this simple but quite fascinating mani by Squeaky Nails.

As base color I used Mentality polish Courage, a maroon matte shimmer (does this make any sense? Well, it's a shimmer polish with a matte finish). I used two coats for opacity.

For the spiderwebs, I used Bundle Monster holiday plate BM-H07 and silver Essence stamping polish. No topcoat on this mani, to keep the matte finish.

Mentality polishes are available at Big Cartel and at Harlow&Co., where I bought mine.

A Box, Indied - The Witching Hour

The last of the october "A Box, Indied" polishes is Dollish Polish The Witching Hour.

I started with two coats of Girly Bits More Cowbells, a sky blue holo with tiny blue iridescent glitters.

Then I used The Witching Hour to create a ruffian mani. The Witching Hour is a very dark, almost black green with lots of teeny tiny glitters in all colors imaginable. Honestly, it reminds me more of Christmas than Halloween, in my eyes, it looks like a miniature christmas tree with colorful Christmas balls...

The Witching Hour dries to a matte and somewhat textured finish, I added one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top to bring out the sparkles.

Dollish Polish are available at their store, at Llarowe and at Overall Beauty. This Ring Toss Is RIGGED! was exclusive to the july "A Box, Indied". The box with five polishes is available at Llarowe as a one month only box or as subscription (50$ per box).

52 Week Challenge - 80s / 3 Dark Colors

This week's 52 Week Challenge themes are 80s and/or 3 dark colors. As always, I combined both in one mani.

The three dark colors I used as base in a skittlette form.

My thumb and pinkie show Catrice Hyde In The Park (Check & Tweed Limited Eition), a dark fir green with a nice shimmer. I used two coats for opacity.

On my index finger I used two coats of Essie Cashmere Bathrobe (For The Twill Of It Fall 2013 Collection), a dark grey with glass fleck shimmer.

My ring and middle finger show Pretty Serious Hot Summer Nights, a lovely midnight blue with silver microglitter. Hot Summer Nightsis very opaque, I only used one coat.

Then I added a Tetris stamping using Vivid Lacquer plate VL005and Barry M Silver Foil. Tetris still is one of my favorite video game, and being born in the 80s, of course I had a GameBoy (the big grey one with the yellow display, I still have it, somewhere...) and played it for hours...

Pretty Serious polishes are available at their own shop and at numerous international stockists. I bought mine at MeiMei's Signatures.

A Box, Indied - This Is Halloween

It's not quite Halloween yet, but the name of today's "A Box, Indied" polish is This Is Halloween by Different Dimension.

This Is Halloween is a lilac holo with a subtle pink shimmer. I used three coats for opacity and had no issues with application.

I used Mentality polish Matriarch, a purple matte polish, and Lily Anna plate 14 to add this starry design. I did'nt use any topcoat on this one, as I wanted to keep the matte finish of Matriarch.

Different Dimension polishes can be found on Etsy, at Mei Mei's Signatures or at Llarowe. This Is Halloween is exclusive to the october "A Box, Indied". The box with five polishes is available at Llarowe as a one month only box or as subscription (50$ per box).

A Box, Indied - The Ghost Banquo

Today I want to show you the first "A Box, Indied" contribution of one of my favorite indie brands: Pahlish The Ghost Banquo.

The Ghost Banquo has a deep red jelly base with gold and purple flakes and shimmer. I used three coats for opacity. For my accent nail I used Barry M Gold Foil and Bundle Monster plate BM-322. One coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top provided a glossy finish.

Pahlish polishes are available on Bigcartel, at Overall Beauty and at Llarowe. The Ghost Banquo is exclusive to the october "A Box, Indied". The box is available at Llarowe as a one-time-only box or as a monthly subscription.

A Box, Indied - The Hill Abduction 1961

The next polish of the october "A Box, Indied" is Hare Polish The Hill Abduction 1961.

The Hill Abduction 1961 has a dark teal base with iridescent lime and blue squares, hexes and flakes. I used three coats for opacity and had no issues with application. One coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top finished this mani.

52 Week Challenge - 70s / Grey + Color

A new week, a new challenge theme: 70's and/or grey. As usual, I combined the two themes.

The grey polish is The Polish Well No Nightmares, a cloudy grey crelly with tiny purple and blue glitters. I used three coats and had no issues with application. On my ring and middle finger I used two coats of Essie Blanc as a base and added born pretty store water decals with a flower motive. And yes, I know, the Flower Power movement started in the late 60s, but it went on until the early 70s... One coat of KBShimmer was the finishing move, as usual.
