Desert Storm Trigger Puller

Today I have my first polish by the indie brand Alter Ego Nail Enamel to show you: Desert Storm Trigger Puller.





Desert Storm Trigger Puller has a dark honey colored base with copper hexes in two sizes, gold holographic hexes, small brown hexes and and gold micgoglitter/shimmer. No application issues to report, I used two coats for opacity. Desert Storm Trigger Puller dries to a textured satin matte finish.

Of course I was curious how it would look shiny, so I added one coat of Rica Glossy Glam topcoat.

Golden Oldie Thursday - Day 8 - Orange

For today's round of the Golden Oldie Thursday I had to dig deep in my stash, as it features a color I never ever wear: orange

As base color I used Catrice Salmon & Garfunkel. As the name already says, it's not really an orange, but more of a salmon color, but it's the only remotely orange polish I own. Three coats provided opacity with this one.





Then I used Essence James's Favorite Brown (Soul Sista Limited Edition) and Bundle Monster Plate BM-011 to add a pattern on the left side of my nails. One coat of Rica Glossy Glam marked the finsihing move of this mani.

Snow Much Fun

After Snow Flaking Way another winter polish by KBShimmer: Snow Much Fun (Winter 2013 Collection), created by Victoria - the Manicurator

I used three rather thick coats, as Snow Much Fun is quite sheer. No issues with application, even the snowflakes came out of the bottle willingly, but with all the coats (I added one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of Rica Glossy Glam for a smooth finish) it dried pretty slowly.

A Box, Indied - Cupid Is Stupid

The last polish of the february "A Box, Indied" is Different Dimension Cupid Is Stupid

Cupid Is Stupid is a raspberry leaning hot pink jelly with small blue shimmering iridescent gitters. As a jelly, Cupid Is Stupid is pretty sheer, after three coats my nail line was still visible.








Hot pink is so not my color, so I used a England Jane Eyre (already shown here), a black base with red shimmer, and some striping tape to make it more wearable for me. One coat of Rica Glossy Glam topcoat finished this mani.

A Box, Indied - Yo, Cupid, Take A Hike

Number four of the february "A Box, Indied" is Colors By Llarowe Yo, Cupid, Take A Hike

I started with three coats of Essence Sleepy (Snow White Trend Edition), a pastel blue with an extremely subtle blue shimmer that was just impossible to catch on picture.





As soon as Sleepy was completely dry, I used lightning bolts nail vinyls before I added one thick coat of Yo, Cupid, Take A Hike. YCTAH is a royal blue linear holo with just a slight hint of teal. Application was very easy and opacity after one coat was perfect, too. To wear it alone, I propose using two coats, though. One coat of Rica Glossy Glam topcoat was the last step.

Like thursday's chevrons, I had problems with removing the nail vinyls, they tore during removal (all of them). Most of them I could remove easily in two pieces, but some tore a second time and I had to fiddle with tweezers to get the last bit of sticker off of my nails. I only realised after taking the pictures, that the lightning bolt on my index finger is the orhter way round. Let's call it an accent nail, shall we? ;-)

A Box, Indied - Heart Breaker

The next february "A Box, Indied" polish is Dollish Polish Heart Breaker





I started with a base of Essie Carry On (Fall 2011 Collection), a deep oxblood red creme. The formula is very pleasing, a little thin but not runny, and opaque with two thin coats. Carry On dries extremely glossy, no topcoat used in the picture below.





Then I dabbed on one coat of Dollish Polish Heart Breaker, a clear base filled with tons of glitters in various shades of pink and red in (almost) all existing forms, some of them holographic. There are hexes, squares, dots, bars, shards, hearts and butterflies (or are they bows? Can't really tell, it's the "thing" on the lower right of my thumb nail anyway). One coat of Rica Glossy Glam provided a smooth finish.

To be honest, I liked Heart Breaker much better than I expected. As you probably know, I'm not really into red and pink polish, but I was quite happy with how these two polishes looked together (and they matched the day I was wearing them pretty good, this was my actual V-day mani).

Golden Oldie Thursday - Day 7 - Chevron

The theme for round seven of the Golden Oldie Thursday is chevron.

For this mani I used a black base (one coat of a England Camelot), single chevron nail vinyls and one coat of Enchanted Polish Ciao Milano. Ciao Milano has a clear base filled with small multichrome hexes shifting from yellow over copper, pink, purple, blue to green. One coat provided a nice coverage over black, I'm sure it could be built up to opacity on it's own with about three coats.

This time I had some issues with my nail vinyls, but this was probably user error. I applied them on the complete hand at once, added Ciao Milano on all five fingers and started to remove the vinyls, but during removal they tore in the middle and took the black base with them, so I had to re-apply the black polish with a nail art brush at the chevron. So it seems the nail vinyls don't like to be soaked in polish for more than a few seconds (or was this a one time only problem? The next use will show).

Enchanted Polish are pretty hard to get nowadays (as you can see me bottle is an old one, when they weren't as htg) but if you're lucky they're available at Mei Mei's Signatures, Pshiiit and Big Cartel.
