Drummer Boy In The Ocean

Looking at the weather, it feels like november, so I have a very summer-y combo to remind you it's going to be july soon :-)

As base color I used Picture Polish Ocean, an aqua blue jelly filled with tiny holo particles. The polish sparkles like a swimming pool in the sun, just ready to jump in. I used three thin coats for full opacity.

For the stamping I used China Glaze Little Drummer Boy ('Tis The Season To Be Naughty And Nice Collection), a dark navy shimmer polish, and Bundle Monster plate BM-318. I have to admit, placing the image on my nails is not one of my strong sides ;-) I finished the mani with one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.

A Grey-t Afternoon Thunderstorm

Today I have two gorgeous shimmers to show you.

I started with Essence Grey-t To Be Here, a light gray polish filled with pink glass fleck shimmer. It was a little sheer, so I used three thicker coats for full opacity.

Then I added one coat of Happy Hands Afternoon Thunderstorms, "a stormy gray jelly with two sizes of black hexes and golden shimmer reminiscent of lightning strikes."
(Source: Happy Hands)

The golden shimmer is very prominent on this polish, and application was really easy. No dabbing, no dragging, no fishing for glitters. I finished with one coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri.

Happy Hands polishes are sold on Etsy , at their own shop and at Harlow & Co.,

My Tardis is So Cool!

The Doctor is on my blog today! Ok, he isn't but at least a Doctor Who themed mani is ;-)

My base color for this mani is P2 So Cool!, a royal blue shimmer. Formula was good, not too thick and not too thin, I used two coats for opacity.

On top of So Cool! I layered one coat of Digital Nails My Other Car Is A TARDIS. "This polish is inspired by the Doctor's magnificent blue box, the impossibly amazing TARDIS. It is 15ml of rich blue jelly base with royal blue hex glitter, deep ocean blue micro glitter, and holographic deep and oceanic blue small hex glitters."
(Source: Digital Nails)

The royal blue jelly base looks like blue syrup and is a little thin for my liking, as I prefer thicker bases to my glitters. The bigger hexes look a little curled in my pictures, but I didn't feel any curling, so I'd say it's just reflective curling. I finished with one coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri for a smooth finish.

Where Is Carl?

I don't know Carl, so I can't tell you where he is, but I can tell you that this beauty called "Where Is Carl?" is made by swiss indie brand Cadillacquer.

"Where Is Carl? has a white base with blue shimmer, small and bigger ocean blue holo glitter and small dark blue glitter."
(Source: Cadilacquer)

Sadly, my camera wasn't able to capture the true beauty of this polish. It might look a little boring in my pictures, but it isn't at all. Due to the holo glitters, it's far more sparkly than it seems here, and the shimmer gives it a lot of depth. I used three coats for opacity and finished with one coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri.

Cadillacquer polishes are available on Etsy and at Harlow & Co.

Lovely Lilacs In Gion

I haven't shown you a purple mani last week, so it's about time :-)

As base color I used Catrice Dance In Gion (Neo Geisha Limited Edition), a purple polish with a subtle pink shimmer. As always, my purple-hating shows it a little too blue. Please imagine it more purple than my pictures show. Dancing In Gion was a little sheer, I used three medium coats for opacity.

Then I added one coat of Darling Diva Polish Lovely Lilacs, "a clear base with micro green sparkles, different sized and colored purple glitters, rose glitters, some green glitters, white glitters, and iridescent glitters. I tried to pay homage to the lovely lilac bushes blooming:)"
(Source: Darling Diva Polish)

The clear base is also filled with a strong blue shimmer that gives it a gorgeous look over a dark base (I'm sure it looks awesome over a light base, too). Working with Lovely Lilaks wasn't too easy, though. The base is a little thin for my liking (I prefer my glitter bases thicker), so spreading the glitters without them sliding off to the sides took some work. But the outcome makes up for it' I'd say. I finished with one coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri.

Lovely Lilacs is no longer available, but there are a lot of other gorgeous Darling Diva Polishes to be found on Etsy, at Mei Mei Signatures and at Llarowe.

Demeter's Star Dust - Skittelette

Today's mani is inspired by Marta from Chit Chat Nails, the queen of skittelette manis (I read she even invented the name). I just love her blog and her awesome pictures, if you don't know it yet, you should definitely check it out.

My base color is Picture Polish Demeter, a gorgeous slightly red toned chocolate brown filled with scattered holo particles. This polish is one of the Picture Polish Collaboration Shades and was created by Katie from Harlow & Co. Application was a breeze, I used two easy coats for full opacity.

My ring finger shows three coats of Kosmetik Kosmo Sternenstaub (Star Dust), a shimmering duochrome shifting from gold to pink/mauve. The color shift was very hard to capture, but easily visible in real life.

My middle finger and thumb I stamped with Pueen plate 49 and Kiko 630 (Mirror Collection, on their homepage this color is called Golden Rose). I finished this mani with one coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.

Picture Polish are available at LlaroweHarlow & Co.Overall Beauty and Mei Mei's Signatures.

You'll find Kosmetik Kosmo polishes at their own store (European Union and Switzerland only).
